New BVLOS corridor Rotterdam
Rotterdam, March 2024
Opening of first BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) full operational corridor in The Netherlands. In the heart of the Port of Rotterdam and within the Controlled Airspace (CTR) of Rotterdam The Hague Airport. It is great to work with new solutions to make BVLOS flights safer by mitigating air- and ground risks as much as possible. Using sim cards from KPN IoT (part of KPN) especially set-up for UAV operations, our drones have great bandwidth, better coverage and higher priority on the mobile network.
With FlightOps.io integrated with Airwayz, DDC is able to plan and execute the best automated routes based on e.g. network coverage and airspace usage. Demonstrating BVLOS UAV flights DDC - Smart Inspections gains valuable information and experience in operating automated flights. The drone box of Hextronix allows Dutch Drone Company to fly BVLOS on demand. With the swappable battery system, the drone is capable of operating almost continuously.
It's great to work with Port of Rotterdam, Gemeente Rotterdam, Gemeente Rotterdam - Stadsontwikkeling, Rotterdam Makers District that like to discover new aerial mobility possibilities, test social acceptance and think of new ways to legislate BVLOS operated flights more widely.
